Bluebeard Re-write
The Real Story of Bluebeard
On that cold December day the two sisters, Jessalyn and Nikki discovered their father had died. Although both shocked, Nikki, the oldest was the most upset. She relied on her father in every way possible. Financially and emotionally. She was her father’s daughter, where as Jessalyn sided more with her mother. The small family soon found out that although they thought they were well off Jim, their father and “bread winner” left them with nothing but debt. He had a gambling problem, but that was only when he drank. It did not really help that he was an alcoholic though. Desperately trying to figure out what to do the mother, Pamela decided she had to marry off the girls, or they need to start working the streets. They were both very attractive, so neither should be too hard to do.
Nicole’s face was in utter panic as Jessie was telling story of Bluebeard to her. Jessie had heard the story from girl scouts camp, and decided to tell her sister. Knowing that Nicole was afraid of everything, Jessie wanted to scare her older sister a little, this being the only thing she had over Nicole at the time. And so Jessie continued.
Jessalyn was married off to a rich husband with a secret, while Nikki started work on the streets. For Jessalyn her fantasy of living a lavish life in a mansion was becoming a reality. She loved every minute of it, the clothes, the food, and the luxury. Her husband, whom every one called Bluebeard, because he had a beard that was blue, had a mysterious job that caused him to leave town for extended periods of time. Jessalyn loved this because it gave her a chance to explore. This one time in particular Bluebeard, gave Jessalyn an extra key, but was told not to go into the room. Curiosity arose immediately.
Know that this is when the story began to get scary, Jessie rose with anticipation in order to animate to Nicole what was going on. Already quivering in her chair, Nicole begged Jessie to stop, knowing that if she continued she was going to have nightmares. Felling particularly proud of herself, because the story did not scare her Jessie continued with even more enthusiasm, adding her own details that she knew would scare Nicole.
Jessalyn sprints to the forbidden room right as Bluebeard’s limo pulls away. She jams the key into the door and slowly lets it creep open. Jessalyn tried to turn the lights on but the switch was not working, she assumed the light bulb was just out. She slithered her way into the room trying not to run into anything using the light from her phone as a guide. A head Jessalyn could see figures, but could not make them out, so she moved forward, the wet sticky feeling started to seep into her toes. Not able to make out what it was she bent down and touched it with her hands, and used the light of her phone to see what it was. It was a deep red almost black. She then focused the light on the figures; quickly discovering they were that of Bluebeard’s former wives. Jessalyn quickly ran out dropping the key in the blood. As she was running to her bathroom to clean up and recover, she ran directly into Bluebeard. Knowing right away where she came from, Bluebeard told her he was going to have to kill her for disobeying him.
Nicole almost in tears of fear tries to leave the room, but Jessie stops her telling her that it is a happy enough ending and to keep listening if she did not want to have bad dreams.
Thinking quick Jessalyn quickly messaged for help through texting, Facebook, and Twitter. Sure enough help came and gave a hand in helping Jessalyn kill Bluebeard before he killed her.
After ending her story Jessie smiled at Nicole knowing this is the one thing she had over her sister, courage.
